Our client designs, develops and supplies mobile communications products for key market sectors. It has customers in Europe, Australasia, Asia, Southern America and the Middle East and a growing network of international distributors and partners cover all corners of the globe.

We are seeking a proven leader who as Head of Software Engineering will provide the vision, direction and structures needed to ensure reliable and efficient delivery of high-quality software as our client invests in advanced features for products and commission new technology platforms. As Head of Software Engineering you will lead and shape the software engineering function for the development of current and future products.

Key skills and experience :-
o Comprehensive knowledge of embedded C programming in a wireless telecom environment.
o Detailed knowledge and proven experience of the full lifecycle of software development.
o Experience of the co-ordination and staffing of teams across multiple software projects in a matrix environment.
o Substantial experience in most of the following areas :-
     o User-interface software environments & principles, middleware (WAP, TCPIP etc).
     o Device frameworks and drivers.
     o Protocol stack architecture, design and implementation.
     o DSP algorithms, control code and audio systems.
     o Windows and Linux desktop software development experience.
o Considerable software project management experience.
o Ability to lead from the front and drive systematic improvements, change and excellence across the software organisation.
o Passion and ability to evangelise about development of embedded software, tools and systems.
o Line management experience of teams of >20 staff.
o Good degree in computing, engineering or related physical sciences.
