Our client designs, develops and supplies handheld and mobile terminals for key market sectors where customers require secure private mobile communications. It has customers in Europe, Australasia, Asia, Southern America and the Middle East and a growing network of international distributors and partners cover all corners of the globe.
 
We are looking for an experienced Product Engineer with a track record of success in defining new mobile and wireless products. As a Product Definition Engineer you will have responsibility for the high level requirements analysis, system level analysis and functional specification of our client's new products and their features. You will work closely with all the technical disciplines involved in the product, including application and DSP software design, mechanical design, RF design, plus IC and electronic design. Previous or current software development experience is a strong advantage for this role.

Key skills and experience:-
o Experience of requirements capture and analysis, and producing functional specifications;
o Experience of software development;
o An ability to assess the trade-offs between development cost and functionality;
o Experience of layered communications protocols such as GSM, GPRS, and TETRA and real time embedded wireless handset products;
o Experience of related handset technologies, such as wireless connectivity, handheld web access, WAP, etc;
o An understanding of security concepts and technologies, for example encryption, authentication and key management;
o Ability to produce good user-facing documents, for example user guides;
o Experience of development processes and application of good engineering practice;
o Excellent interpersonal skills;
o Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
o A flexible approach to working in a project-based environment;
o Technically qualified to degree level or equivalent;
