Software Design Engineer - UMTS protocols

Our client provides wireless products based on IP technology enabling wireless network operators to deliver revenue-generating, broadband-quality services to mobile devices.

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to develop core network UMTS protocols such as RANAP, RRC, RLC and MAC for our client's ground breaking products. The role is entirely hands-on design, code and test in C/C++ working in a team of around 10 other software engineers.

Key skills and experience:-
· Significant experience of developing protocol layers in C and C++.
· Experience of developing multi-threaded applications.
· Experience of developing UMTS (or similar) protocols such as RLC, MAC, RRC or RANAP.
· Professional approach with a focus on producing high quality software.
· Able to design and implement robust and maintainable software.
· Able to take responsibility for an entire feature from requirements capture to delivery in an environment that is relatively low on formal process.
· Able to work at all stages of the development cycle from requirements analysis through architecture/design, code/test, interacting with QA and on-going support.
· Self-starting and self-motivated personable team player.
· Desirable:- C++ Boost and STL, developing in an environment using one or more of: Linux, GNU toolchain, Eclipse CDT and SVN, developing for a target running uClinux (or other flavour of embedded Linux) on a Blackfin processor.
